High Quality, Dependable Emergency Medical Services

Our mission is to provide high-quality, dependable emergency medical service throughout Putnam County.

Presently our agency offers fully staffed advanced life support (ALS), blanketing the region to allow for an immediate response to your critical call for help. The State Health Department thoroughly inspects each emergency unit on an annual basis. Furthermore, our unit offers the most advanced technology available.

Who We Are

Most residents are very familiar with the gleaming gold & white vehicle that can be seen throughout Putnam County. Licensed by the state of West Virginia, the Advanced Life Support Units (ALS) are fully equipped to provide the highest standard of pre-hospital emergency care.

All on board are highly trained Paramedics and EMTs. These individuals undergo vigorous training and continuing education to be able to offer Putnam County citizens the possible services.

Dial 911 for Emergencies

If you are unable to call or fear that doing so may result in harm to yourself or others, you can send a text to “911”. However, a voice call is preferable if you are able to do so safely.

Thank you!!

Do to recent events, I would like to say that EMS is not typically trained in water rescue, auto extraction or hazmat and those categories are a specialty of Fire and Rescue and specialty Teams however EMS does however have opportunities to take part in the specialty classes if they choose to do so. These type of classes are a common finding at Fire departments not EMS agencies. In fact Institute Fire department has classes coming up and I suggest anyone that is wanting to have this training attend. Great instructors and a lot of wonderful knowledge to have if you want it.

Thank you for your service.

This is truly an epic fail. Yes they may have made it to some one in need but the risk definitely is bad.

I don't think I would have posted this picture, if it was a true medical issue you should have found a better option but if it was simply a rescue issue they could have walked onto the hillside and waited until the water receded

I want to know who thought this was a good idea, especially with no PFDs.

I seen this earlier today and I didn't want to post any comments but this was just reckless and could have ended very badly for all involved. There's no way any fire chief or officer in general should have let them perform this, not to mention no flotation devices of any kind or tethering. Seriously if you're not trained in swift water rescue at any level you should not be doing this. And trust me if you were trained this is not how it would have been done. I'm just waiting on the "we had to do something" or the "it wasn't you there" to start " so don't judge them". If you don't know learn if you don't then do better and stay home so this doesn't turn into another rescue situation people.

Wow yes T y

The only saving grace of this situation is that it appears this creek isn’t really all that deep.

Need to watch the local news and learn to “turn around, don’t drown.”

Nice PFD attached there. Tag line? Truly the social media person here needs to understand the danger of posting something like this. Epic fail Putnam Ems.

Bryan Carr

Thank you 🙏 😳❤️

Do I see a rope on the side of the ladder- is it tied to the provider on the ladder?

ooof this didn’t go how the PIO thought it would 😂

Someone please remove this so the world doesn’t see us all as this reckless. 🤦‍♀️

Cecil would have fired somebody.

Ok now to the command staff that allowed this. How many safety rules were broken and how could the dangers of this have been mitigated for a better safety outcome. From just this one picture alone I can honestly see 6 things just one the opposite side of the creek alone

No PFDs

WOW! Since when does EMS do any water rescues??? WHO was in charge of this scene?? CARELESS risk of human life...

Can’t save them if you’re dead when you get there

Should they have some kind of harness on them? What if they slip and go into the creek? Just wondering since it is all about safety!

Got the job done, no one got hurt, good work

Out of all the crazy, dangerous stuff that I did over the years in EMS and Fire Service none of them were done with this kind of blatant disregard for safety.

Kraig Barker, are you ok with this?
